Security Engineer: Network/firewall Security & Cloud

Objectives:

As a Security Engineer specialising in Network & Cloud Security you will be responsible for administration, configuration, design and troubleshooting to ensure a successful customer experience. These tasks will primarily be carried out against Cloud & Firewall Solutions across on-premises, cloud & Hybrid deployments where a multitude of Vendor products co-exist. C1-S works with different security solution providers at the forefront of developing new standards for protection against, insight into, and detection and mitigation of cyber security threats.

Responsibilities:

As a Security Engineer (Network/Firewall/Cloud), we will expect you to:

Design, Architect and Deploy networking & cloud security solutions;
Conduct security assessments, recommend and implement best practices;
Conduct POCs, demos, presentations and implementation when required;
Document related problems and resolutions for future reference;
Monitor system performance and implement performance tuning;
Troubleshooting of all related issues, including network and security;
Firewall co-ordination
1. Driving day to day management with vendors (requests, changes and incidents)
2. Process improvement
3. Driving implementation of policies and standards in the network security domain
4. Firewall projects, installation, upgrades and advanced troubleshooting
Security Consulting
Research new threats, exploits and vulnerabilities.
Assisting in driving and co-ordinating Security Operations involvement
1. Reporting on services that you are responsible for
2. Meetings and stand-in for resources in team.
The role is not limited to the above mentioned and additional responsibilities related to Security Operations may be required.

Required skills and qualifications:

Solid foundational understanding of cloud, network & security design
Ability to work within constraints of service level agreements, strict deadlines and follow strict procedures
Be prepared to be on standby and work overtime as required
Stay abreast with emerging technologies and threats and ability to proactively assess and evaluate the adoption thereof in the organisation
Willingness to knowledge share & provide mentorship to Jnr Engineers
Excellent problem solving and planning skills
Self-motivated, committed to offering a professional service of the highest standard and be able to work independently
Flexible, self-organised and display high level of initiative and operate effectively under pressure
Delivery within specified Service Level Agreements and defined timelines
Ability to build positive working relationships
Strong command of the English language (both written and verbal)

Preferred skills and qualifications:

Grade 12 + Tertiary qualification
Minimum of 5 years inclusive Networking & Security experience with specific focus on Next Gen Firewall solutions
CCNA R&S, N+, S+
Excellent knowledge of Next-Generation Firewalls
Valid Palo Alto and/or CheckPoint Expert Certifications
Certifications on related Cloud Security Solutions
- AWS Certified Security – Specialty
- Completed the AWS Solutions Architect
End Point and EDR Certifications
CISSP
